Photival wouldn't be able to exist without support from generous funding sources, location partners and marketing and printing friends who assist the team throughout the production and running of the festival. For 2019 we are particularly grateful to our primary funder, Wellington City Council. We’re also very grateful to institutions across the city who worked with us in bringing the programme together; Flux at Wellington Museum, Save the Children, the New Zealand Portrait Gallery, Photospace, Suite, Adam Art Gallery and Ngā Taonga. And last but not least our printing partner The Big Picture. Thank you all without your support the festival wouldn’t be possible.
2019 Partner for Social Change
Under this years festival theme of Influence we have partnered with ActionStation. ActionStation is an independent, crowdfunded, community campaigning organisation that aims to positively influence and enact people powered change.
Their mission is to tautoko (support) and whakamana (uplift) everyday New Zealanders to act together in powerful and coordinated ways to create what we cannot achieve on our own: a society, economy and democracy that serves all of us - everyday people and Papatūānuku, the planet we love.
They have a proven model of member-driven, digitally facilitated, multi-issue, rapid response, grassroots campaigning with a focus on shifting public opinion and driving the media agenda in order to influence political decisions so they are better for people and planet.
Their core campaigns are led by ActionStation staff and are chosen based on regular surveys of members. There are seven priority areas:
Honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Inclusive and Diverse Communities
