Saturday 25 May 11AM, leaving from L2 info Desk, Te Papa

Come on this exclusive talk and tour behind the scenes with Te Papa Photography Curator Athol McCredie.

Athol will share with us the process of bringing together the upcoming exhibition ‘The New Photography: Life in the 60s and 70s’ (opens 15 June) and what ideas influenced its curation. We’ll explore how photographs are stored and archived in the national collection and some collection highlights that didn’t quite make it into his exhibition. This is a one-off tour, with special access behind the scenes of the national museum, so we highly recommend you book early to avoid missing out.

Athol McCredie’s expertise is in New Zealand photography, particularly 1940 to the present. Current research includes the history of the museum’s photography collection, the photographs of Māori and their treatment by the museum, and the personal documentary photography of the 1960s and 1970s.
