Saturday 11 & Sunday 12 May, Starting at Photospace

Join Photospace owner James Gilberd for a full weekend course in photographing and documenting our urban landscape.

Hear from ‘The Long View’ photographer Mary Macpherson about her work, move around the city for some practical sessions and return to the gallery to edit and curate your imagery, packed full of help, advice and feedback.

Weekend breakdown:

Start the weekend off at 9:30am with an introduction and some approaches to urban landscapes with a cup of morning coffee. Following this be inspired by ‘The Long View’ being exhibited in Photospace and hear from the photographer Mary Macpherson. In the afternoon you’ll go out into the city as a group to start experimenting with your photographic skills, catch the golden hour and learn some tips and tricks from James. Meet up again on Sunday morning to catch the morning light in the CBD and finish off your shoots. You’ll reconvene at Photospace to edit your work and review as a group. Gather feedback from your peers and James to hone your photographic practice. The workshop will conclude at 5pm. This is a special opportunity to go out on location with an experienced photographic practitioner and educator. We hope that you’ll take away skills to showcase Wellington and any other urban area with your own unique visual voice.

Bring your own digital camera and tripod, battery charger and/or spare camera battery, laptop for image editing (preferably with Adobe Lightroom Classic installed)
